Due to some recent events (i.e. the wide release of The Dark Knight) I’ve had to rethink my list of favorite movies. Not the whole thing, mind you, just the important bits. The top ten. Behold!
10: The Producers (1968 )
“Look at me! I’m wearing a cardboard belt!”
9: The Philadelphia Story (1940)
“I’m going crazy. I’m standing here solidly on my own two hands, and I’m going crazy,”
8: Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
“Me? I’ve had so many names. Old names that only the wind and the trees can pronounce.”
7: O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
“You two’re just dumber’n a bag full of hammers.”
6: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003)
“I would have gone with you to the end. Even into the very fires of Mordor.”
5: Brokeback Mountain (2005)
“Well, why don’t you? Why don’t you just let me be? It’s because of you Jack, that I’m like this! I’m nothin’… I’m nowhere…”
4: Citizen Kane (1941)
“You know, Mr. Bernstein, if I hadn’t been very rich, I might have been a really great man.”
3: The Dark Knight (2008 )
“This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.”
2: Casablanca (1942)
“How extravagant you are, throwing away women like that. Some day they may be scarce.”
1: The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938 )
“It’s injustice I hate, not the Normans.”
And there we are. Not bad, if I do say so myself…
